Case Study – Interparking

Interparking selected MetroParker as their pre-book ecommerce platform to be used in 7 countries and 880 car parks, covering more that 92% of their entire estate.

They launched the online booking system with the objective of growing car park income, improving customer convenience and experience and getting a better understanding of customer using their car parks.

Key challenges

  • Launching an online booking system simultaneously across several countries
  • Launch pre-book functionalities especially for city centre car parks, including creating sites autonomously.
  • Connect to proprietary barrier -SPC- and PMS suppliers which didn’t support pre-book.
  • Improve the customer experience during the pre-booking process, including pre-entry and post-exit marketing emails

MetroParker is currently live in more than 100 car parks in:

  • Belgium
  • France
  • Netherland
  • Germany
  • Poland

MetroParker engaged and managed the relationships with the various PARCS that were in place at Interparking car parks namely:-

  • Designa
  • Scheidt & Bachmann
  • Skidata
  • Thales
  • Orbility

Furthermore PSPs in each country were activated to ensure pre-book parking went live each time according to schedule.

Other functionality live in the system 

  • Various methods of entry are supported – ANPR, QR code and Pin Code
  • 2-way communication via API with the Interparking gateway, so that bookings (including overstay) can be managed in real time.
  • An easy to use wizard to copy sites when launching a new car park
  • The ability save card to automatically charge overstay and mandatory login to make a booking.
  • Integration via API to a 3rd party front end in France
  • Supporting a seamless login to the customers’ My Account Area.
  • Post-exit scheduled emails allow the collection of feedback providing useful insights on customers needs

Results

  • After an initial ‘soft’ launch revenue for 2019 was substantially higher than expected despite the initial number of car parks available for pre-booking being limited.
  • From day 1 the use of dynamic pricing increased revenues
  • The number of bookings increased in practically every car park in which pre-booking was implemented. 
  • Revenue now higher compared to pre-pandemic levels - i.e. in France revenue has increased 100% yoy in 2021
